We are proud to be Presbyterian Church USA!
We are an historic church, proud of our heritage while seeking to make faith relevant in a new day.
We gladly include “La Porte” in the name of our church. We belong to the city of La Porte.
Congregational Care is central to the ministry of The Presbyterian Church of La Porte and is grounded in the church’s affirmation that we are called to love one another as God has loved us. We give thanks for God’s claim on our lives and commit to love and serve one another after the example of Jesus Christ.
Sundays at the 10AM
Grab a cup of coffee and a cookie in the Gathering Place between the Sunday morning worship services and enjoy some good conversation each week. The Gathering Time is one of the most important hours of the week at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte. Our crowd likes to connect, catch up on all the local news, swap family stories and make new friends. People from the first service stay late to chat. People from the second service come early so the church community has a chance to be together. Parents often let their children run outside to our newly built playground. We have swings, slides, climbers, and play houses! The area is fenced and can be easily viewed from the Gathering Place. Be sure to join us for a relaxed visit among friends in a warm space overlooking the beauty of God’s creation.
Progessive Dinner has a long happy tradition in The Presbyterian Church of La Porte as an annual event. The dinner menu is established and divided up among the participants. Appetizers and desserts are shared as a large group while dinner is served in groups of eight. This is an adult only event as the adults do partake in wine with dinner.
8AM Second Saturday of the Month
The men of the church and friends gather together on the second Saturday of the month at 8 AM to share some time and fellowship over their favorite meal.
9AM Third Thursday of the Month
The Presbyterian Women enjoy tea and coffee cake and engage in Bible study. They usually follow an excellent Bible study guide provided by the PCUSA called Horizon's Women's Bible Study. The Presbyterian Women also have a selection of Mission causes they support through annual fundraisers, the most important of which is the twice yearly Garage Sale.
Join us Wednesdays 5-6pm
Welcome to Kid’s Club! This is The Presbyterian Church of La Porte’s midweek children’s program designed for kids to make music and learn more about God!
Sunday Nights from 5 - 7 PM
Our church is a special place for teens and tweens to connect with adults and make friends and learn more about God. We always have a blast when we get together on Sundays. We sing songs, play games, try out new skills, learn how to be friends, eat dinner, and think about what God wants in our lives!
VBS is one of the very best things we do at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte. This year we are going to Rome to meet the Apostle Paul and learn about the early church.
Homecoming happens every fall on the first Sunday in September after Labor Day. It is a celebration feast day when we kick off the beginning of the program year. Members and friends rejoice to gather together for food and fellowship with special games and activities for the children. Homecoming marks the beginning of the fall children's and youth ministry programs and usually includes the lauching of a new short term adult learning class.
On Consecration Sunday we celebrate the gifts of God to us with an combined worship service and luncheon afterward. We joyfully make our financial commitment to the ministry of this church on Consecration Sunday, usually scheduled in early November. It's a great day of promise as we look forward to what God will do in and through our congregation in the coming year.
Chili Cookoff is a contest among the many excellent cooks in our congregation and a feast for the taste buds for those of us who come to enjoy. This is a winter event!
