As a church, we accomplished a lot in October and have plans to do the same in November. Interested in learning about our success with the Treasure Sale and the "Come Together" prayer service? Click through and you'll get to read about upcoming opportunities too.

ThanksGIVING Opportunity

As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, remember to celebrate and give thanks to God by sharing our abundance with others. As we show our gratitude to God, we plan to share once again with the families of the Head Start students attending preschool here at The Presbyterian Church of La Porte. Food items will be collected on November 12th and 19th for distribution on Monday, November 20th. Beginning Sunday, November 5th you can sign up in The Gathering Place to participate.

Mitten Tree

Beginning in Advent, we invite you to bring children's mittens or scarfs for the annual Mitten Tree. These will be donated to the Salvation Army, keeping little children toasty warm. Let's cover the tree with our donations!

We Came Together in Prayer

On Sunday afternoon, October 15, we were honored to host a community prayer service, “Come Together”, where our church members joined with friends and neighbors to pray for our nation and our world in response to the overwhelming suffering and worry that has surrounded us in the last while. A wonderful program was presented with prayer, scripture, music and the lighting of candles. We were privileged to be joined by Pastor Nate Loucks of the State Street Church, Father Paul Nesta of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Pastor Mike Wicks of the Sturgis Presbyterian Church, who filled in at the last moment for the ailing Father Ian Williams of the La Porte Catholic Churches. We prayed for those suffering from violence, those suffering from natural disasters, for our community and for our world. Enriching music was presented by our Worship Band and Chancel Choir The service ended with candles that we may remember that we bring the light of world in the love of Jesus Christ to all those we meet. A free will collection of just under $300 was taken and is being donated to Church World Services hurricane relief. We are blessed that we could offer this service and we rejoice in the comfort and light that it brought to all.
